I currently run two blocks of poetry workshops at Glasgow Zine Library in the Southside of Glasgow – ‘Beginners’ and ‘More Experienced’. Both will include: writing exercises, prompts, discussions about (mostly) modern and contemporary poems, and lots of tea and biscuits!

The workshops run in 6-week blocks (every Thursday evening for 6 weeks) – click here to book or register your interest in a course!

About the Beginners course

In these relaxed and informal sessions, published poet and experienced workshop leader Annie Muir will create a comfortable environment for a group of beginners to start their poetry journey.

Each session will involve looking at a poem (or two!) and seeing what we can make of it as a group. This will be followed by prompts to get us started in writing our own poems.

While there will be some talk of poetry techniques, no prior experience is needed. The main purpose of the workshops are to discuss our general thoughts and feelings about the poem using our past experiences – and have fun!

About the More Experienced course

This ‘More Experienced’ 6-week poetry course is aimed at anyone who sees themselves as being slightly more than a ‘Beginner’: either because they have already completed the ‘Beginners’ Course, or because they have already read/written a fair amount of poetry. This group is perfect for anyone who is looking for a community of like-minded people to have discussions about poetry and share their writing with.

In this block we try some new more adventurous writing exercises, experiment with new forms and also do at least one editing and feedback session. The course is also tailored to anything the group are particularly interested in doing.

Feedback from Attendees!
